Charlie Gauthier
ALPCA #1539
Charlie Gauthier has been a member of ALPCA (# 1539) since 1973 and has specialized in Presidential Inaugural plates since day one. As a native of the District of Columbia, he assembled a complete collection of low-numbered D.C. plates, including a pre-state and a wide variety of automotive-related ephemera. His current focus is collecting license plates issued to Presidents and Vice Presidents of the United States while they were in office. It is a very challenging endeavor, but one filled with satisfaction when another plate is added to the collection.
Charlie has authored many articles for PLATES magazine and his collections have been featured in newspapers and videos over the years. He also has won a number of awards, including the Shea Trophy twice, for displays at ALPCA national conventions. Charlie is semi-retired and lives in the countryside outside of Washington, DC with his wife. He spent 30+ years involved in motor vehicle safety, initially in the Federal government and later in a trade association. He now focuses much of his time on finding great license plates.

Returns
Returns are available in cases of accidental misrepresentations by us or damage in transit. License plates by their nature often show signs of use and are imperfect. We try to photograph each item so the condition is clear, but it’s not always possible to capture every imperfection. Also note that many plates show a distinct warp that occurs during the stamping process, and some have a smell due to the reflectorized sheeting. These are unavoidable and cannot be corrected. Please ask for additional photos or information before completing your purchase.
